Vonnegut

One of the greatest authors to ever live, probably would have been pleased if he had not been living. One of the greatest authors to ever live, probably would hate that I am calling him one of the greatest to ever live. One of the greatest authors to ever live, said about himself I never thought Id amount to a hill of beans.

Kurt Vonnegut was the master of satire. He was the master of Quip. He was the master of the English language. Kurt Vonnegut was a major proponent of peace. Kurt Vonnegut said simple things about complicated matters, and he was ALWAYS talking about complicated matters.

His novels attacked political and social problems sidelong. He used fictional worlds, characters and his dark sense of humor to draw attention to our society. He stayed out of real life politics until he stopped writing fiction.

Kurt Vonnegut was a humanist which in his words meant in part, that he had tried to behave decently without expectations of rewards or punishments after he was dead." He did that. Kurt Vonnegut used his writers voice to speak out against war. In his famous novel Slaughterhouse Five Vonnegut used his own experiences as a prisoner in World War II to make a dramatic and humorous anti war novel. Kurt Vonnegut was captured after fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was kept Prisoner in an underground slaughter house in Dresden, Germany. His main Character in slaughterhouse five had similar experiences. Besides being anti-pointless wars,. He was also an avid environmentalist. He said various things about the sad state of the environment.

As with any great Author the greatest thing Vonnegut did for the collective of man-kind was to leave behind is words. Vonnegut wrote in a dark poetic style. His sentences were long, and had little punctuation. His stories were humorous and thought provoking. In all actuality, though, it is Vonneguts choice of words and his sense of poetry in daily life that left the biggest mark on the human psyche. His quotes find their way to monuments and picket signs, to blogs, and into other literary works. His words can move a person to feel, and react. His words have often been banned by Schools, or embraced by them. In some schools his works are blacklisted, and in some they are required reading. His memorable book Cats Cradle has a cult following, and his amazing short stories are often ignored.
